This Inference Strategy helps students make inferences in relation to three types of questions: Big Picture Questions, Prediction Questions, and Clarifying Questions. They learn to identify these types of questions and to distinguish them from Factual Questions. They learn to answer each type of question through a series of five lessons and then practice using the strategy on more and more difficult reading passages until they are able to answer inferential questions in relation to passages written at their grade level. A separate student materials volume provides reading passages and questions that students answer to practice using the strategy.
